Also, make sure it’s formatted as FAT32 and not NTFS.
If you want to use Xbox Live to update your console, you need a internet connection.
Click Wired Network or the name of your wireless network you use if asked.
Click Yes, when you are asked to update the console.
When the console restarts, the installation program will then start automatically. Click save save to save the .zip-file with the update for your console to your computer.
There are two ways to do this: either copy the update to a USB flash drive or download the update to your computer and then update your Xbox 360 console.
First, connect up a USB flash drive to your computer and make sure it has enough free space on it.
Now all you have to do is take the USB stick over to your Xbox console, plug it in and then turn on the console. Then just pop the disc into your Xbox console and the update will start automatically.
This method is useful if you have no access to the Internet.
If you have any problems, post a comment here and I will try to help.
Xbox One owners will be able to perform an offline update on consoles with a USB flash drive and a PC with an internet connection and USB Port, according to the Xbox One support page.
Make sure to not change the name of the downloaded ZIP file.
